I sat at the bar and ate and drank beer. Blue cheese salad to start which was excellent. Next I had a porterhouse pork chop. Also very good and cooked how I like it. Bartenders were friendly. The beers were cold. It was a good meal.
Still one of our favorite places to eat in Ketchum. We make a special trip to spend the night in Ketchum on our hunting trips so we can have a steak dinner at the Pioneer. We usually sit at the bar. Bartenders and staff are friendly, attentive, and helpful. The food is always great. Have to get their version of a Hula pie for dessert. Definitely big enough to share! They also have a full bar and good wine list. They do not take reservations and they fill up fast, so plan accordingly. Well worth the wait though.
We had great service upon arrival. Got seated promptly. Our waiter was great, house bread was delicious. The best damn margarita was just okay and my NY strip was more of a medium well instead of medium. Overall it was a cute place in a small town. I wouldn't mind going back.
We heard from friends that you can't visit Ketchum/Sun Valley without going to the Pioneer. We were so impressed!! The food and service was so great that we went back the second night again for dinner. The halibut and trout were amazing and of course, I have to mention the famous baked potato! If you have room after dinner.. the mud pie was also delicious!! We absolutely loved our server Pablo, and the manager Gina, they really made the whole experience wonderful! We are already looking forward to our next visit! :)
Prime rib 1/2 cut was the best I've ever eaten. Bread was standard. Loaded potatoes is what you'd expect. Service was great. Atmosphere was amazing. This is a spot for men. Great taxidermy (must see the trophy room downstairs). Great selection at the bar.
Amazing experience and such a delicious dinner. Felt very welcomed by the locals here and were very happy we happened upon the Pioneer Saloon. The ribeye was amazing with bleu cheese butter The steak and shrimp kabob was just as delicious. Service was excellent from our new waiter. Can't wait to go back!
Had some time to kill before dinner so we stopped by Pioneer Saloon for a drink and an obligatory Idaho Baked Potato, which they're known for. The place was crowded on a Friday night but the vibe was still warm and inviting. After a few minutes, we were able to snag a spot at the bar. It's hard to mess up a baked potato, but this one was actually pretty good!
Good ole PIO! Never disappoints. Some tips for first timers is to come here at open which is 4pm and put your name in. If you come here at 5-6 then it could be a huge wait depending on the season- if you're coming non peak holiday times then you probably don't have to worry about this as much. The food is excellent, I have never had a bad steak. Also it's important to mention how affordable it is compared to other steak houses. $35 for a 8oz steak in this economy?! Killer deal. The side dishes are also banging, I'd recommend the trout and Bre or a loaded backed Potatoe. This place has a very unique decor and is authentic AF. Lots of guns, animals and history on the walls. Creates a cool feeling when dining in. Also fantastic people watching when you're in the bar area waiting for a table...
My first visit in almost 3 years. This place is an institution in our town and at least go and hang at the bar. That's quite cool to hear and see the locals. We came in late. Sat in the bar area. Ordered the loaded potatoes and the prime rib sandwich. Both were exceptional. The team here are always hospitable. Don't miss this spot. It's worth it.
